University of Wollongong
A major in Visual Arts and Design in the Bachelor of Creative Arts is for those who love not only painting and making, but also designing for real-world environments. You will develop skills in areas such as painting and drawing, printmaking, photography and video, and sculpture and textiles. You will also learn contemporary digital design skills, including design principles, web design, innovations in design practice and interface design – all underpinned by learning in history and theory. This dynamic major offers extensive studio time, while equipping you with the design skills essential for success in the contemporary arts and creative industries.
The Visual Arts major equips you with a sound knowledge of contemporary art practices and art history and theory both within Australia and internationally. The Visual Arts major is taught by academics who are practicing artists and scholars, and who want to work with you to develop your creative and practical skills as well as your critical abilities. You will work towards a major exhibition in your final year, and will be encouraged to curate or participate in Student Initiated Projects (SIPS).
